I've only used this reel for 2 days. But it performed flawlessly on 3-6 lb. pink salmon this past summer. It's a lightweight, strong enough, fully functional reel that gets the job done. Its blue accents and matte color match up perfectly with the Fenwick Eagle it is mounted on. I had no issues with it in salt water, even so I hit it with a couple drops of oil afterwards.

Absolutely love kastking products. There reels are the best I have ever used. Sold all my lews and went with all kastking. I have 9 reels now

I love this reel. Hands down My favorite in my small but slowly growing collection. The light-weight design, and low profile make it easier for me to hold this reel in my palm and it not feel bulky, or awkward. The clicking tensioner knob is clutch and probably my favorite feature.

The reel is so light weight. Makes a long day of fishing easy on these old hands. Great buy.

The fit and finish is as good as you could want, especially given the price point and value you get for a dollar these days.
It fishes very well and the adjustments are fine enough to be able to precisely tune each load out I've tried with it so far.
It casts like a dream, fast and far on any lure appropriate rod I've stuck under it so far. The drag is strong and the retrieve is so smooth. It definitely inspires confidence in your equipment while being light enough to extend my bank fishing session for lack of fatigue. I caught a 4 lb bass my second cast and it I'm going to buy another so I can have two dedicated for different lures. I'm glad I ventured out from my go-to brands.
Over all review; Badass reel! Not a single fault to be found. And fast shipping!

I'm really liking this Verus Assassin. Nice light weight reel. Very smooth retrieve. Casts really well minus a few early backlashes as I dialed it in.

I enjoy fishing, which doesn't mean I'm particularly skilled at it, but I try. This is a reel I obtained to assist me.

The build quality is excellent. It cranks very smoothly. The bail trips with a decisive click. This is a great reel for the money.

4.5 stars - The KastKing brand does a good job providing reliable alternatives that mimic more expensive options. This reel is worth every penny at $60. Personally, I would buy it at the $74.95 price point that other more popular reels start at.

Honestly, I wasn't even looking to purchase another reel. I was simply browsing KastKing's lineup when this Verus Assassin jumped out at me. I own a little-used Fenwick Eagle casting rod that has never had its own dedicated reel. It does now! I liked the black matte color in the carbon frame and the sky blue accents, both of which match up near perfectly with the Fenwick. The reel arrived neatly and impressively packed in a nice box with form-fitting foam insert. I've owned dozens of fly, spinning, and bait cast reels over my 45 years of fishing and can honestly say I've never had one packed this nicely before. It was a "Wow" moment for me when I opened the box. That was a nice touch. Also included was the usual literature, a KastKing sticker, and maintenance reminder stickers. It's a sharp looking reel, and is by far the lightest reel of any type I've ever owned/used, and I'm hoping light doesn't translate into weak/cheap.My KastKing Destron braid hadn't arrived yet, so I spooled it up with some leftover Hercules braid and headed to the back yard to function check it. Both the spool tension knob and brake knob have audible and tactile clicks. The drag function worked as it should. After a few practice casts with a one-half ounce weight to get a feel for the spool tension and brakes, I made about 50 casts in the 80-120' range without issue. The overall operation was as smooth as I could have hoped for.My plan is to use this setup for Valdez pink and silver salmon. Unfortunately, these runs are still a couple months away. However, I saw nothing in this reel to suggest that it won't perform as well as my Royale Legend and Royale Legend II 200 on saltwater salmon.Overall, I'm pleasantly surprised. My only concern with this reel is overall strength due to the light frame, but I'll update this review soon with observations concerning that and "on fish" performance.
