Solid heavy duty spinning combo

Great spinning combo from Kast King as always with their rods and reels. This has the body to handle large fish from bass to catfish with plenty of muscle from this reel to land them. For the money it is a good value and my only complaint would be the size of the rod and weight to hold for long periods of time. For catfiahing and using a rod holder it has a sensitive tip to see and feel even a light bite and the backbone to land the larger fish.

If you do intend to land larger fish I would highly recommend replacing the line that comes pre-spooled with something more heavy duty. I am pretty sure it would snap easily with a 4 or 5 pound catfish or large mouth bass pulling.

Strong light rod and very smooth reel

I got the KastKing rod and reel combo to replace an old set that served me well. I am impressed with how light and sturdy this rod is. The rod is made of graphite and is very rugged. The reel came pre-spooled with monofilament line but I do not know the test pound rating of the line. The rod is in two pieces making transporting it very easy. I used the original hard packing case that it came in. The total length is 7 feet and the tip is a fluorescent section that glows green in the dark. I tested this combo when I went surf fishing. While I did not catch any fish on my first day out, I enjoyed the smooth winding of the reel, the ease of throwing almost 10 yards out into the ocean and how comfortable the rod is to hold while waiting for the fish to bite.

You'll Want this Terrific Rig for Your Fishing Expeditions

To say my fishing gear is "long in the tooth" is being generous and polite. Most of it is decades old. To fulfill my desire to do more fishing in 2025, I was casting about (yes, a purposeful pun) for a new rig and struck gold with this beautiful set. So, I fell for it hook, line, and sinker-and rod and reel.

I break down what I like about the kit into four sections: quality, the reel, the rod, and the tackle. Here goes.

Quality
The rod and reel quality match or exceed that of my existing gear, and not just because my gear is old. The fit and finish are the best I've seen in quite some time. Surfaces are all silky smooth and blemish-free. Plus, the rod and reel have a solid, rugged feel in the hand. I can see this equipment lasting for a long, long time. Even the tackle that rounds out the kit is pretty good, especially the hooks, swivels, and weights.

The Reel
1) The operation of the reel is smooth, solid, and responsive. There is zero slop, and it all just clicks like a well-oiled machine (I'll see if I can toss in a few more puns and cliches:>)) I especially like that the reel uses stainless steel bearings at critical wear points.
2) It has an easy-to-set drag.
3) It comes pre-spooled with a light-duty monofilament line.

The Rod
1) The rod simply feels great in my hands. Everything is snug and solid.
2) I really like the medium flex in the rod I got. For my target fish of sunnies, crappies, blue gill, and small bass, this degree of flex with provide excellent strength and plenty of sensitivity as the little nibblers work on the bait. And if a bigger fish decides to take the bait, this rod will handle it.
3) It may be me, but the 6-8" of bright green at the rod tip surprised me, pleasantly so. For years, I've struggled to see the tip against the dark waters I fish. Not anymore, baby! The only way I'll miss the tip is in ductwork or other slime, but if I'm in that environment, I've done something wrong.
4) Mounting and dismounting the reel is the easiest I've ever encountered. Once seated, the reel isn't going anywhere.
NOTE: Keep the square tube the rod arrives in for protected storage in the off-season.

The Tackle
1) As I stated above, the tackle is pretty good. There's a nice selection, and the hardware included (hooks, swivels, weights, etc.) looks great. While I lean towards natural bait, the artificial offerings will allow me to try something new when called for.
2) The box organizes everything well, and the company includes a sticker label listing the contents, which is a nice touch. NOTE: The adhesive is powerful. You cannot adjust it, so make sure you have the sticker lined up, or it will turn out crooked like mine.

I look forward to the ice going off the lakes and the start of the fishing season so I can put this gear to a proper test. If you want an outstanding starter package, need to add a spin casting outfit to your arsenal, or just want to expand your options with high-quality, affordable gear, bring this set home.

Great rod and reel combo!

This is another excellent combo put together by KastKing. The rod is good quality and fits together securely. It is light weight and has great action to it. It has a nice bright tip for visibility and the combo looks great together. The reel is the perfect size for the rod and is super smooth casting and reeling. The drag is easy to adjust and is very smooth as well. This combo is easy to use for a beginner or a seasoned fisherman. The included tackle box is awesome! It has so many things in it, and they are useful. I picked this combo up for my 8yo to upgrade him and had to talk myself out of keeping it. It's an excellent quality combo and an awesome value!

Great value

I just received this Kast King spinning rod and reel combo, really good for the money.. Came in very well packaged I was very impressed. The reel is really smooth and cast a good distance, didn't take it out yet but was using a plug in the back yard. The rod also feels well made very similar to some of my Abu Garcias. Excited to take in out and catch some fish. Excellent value good job Kast King.

Definitely makes me feel want to try a bait casting setup from them.
