Hey Kastking,

If you actually read customer reviews then this is the one you NEED to read. I bought your Megatron because of its high drag rating. I love the reel except there is a design flaw... The braid ready portion on the spool creates a bubble shaped line lay that causes many wind knots when making long casts. The problem is the knurled band is raised and not flush with the rest of the line lay surface. This makes for that bubble shaped line lay causing wind knots especially with braided line.

From a physics standpoint, the coils of line at the top and bottom of the bubble are smaller than the ones in the center. When line peels off at high speed on a long cast, the alternating long short long short coils disrupt the harmonic balance of the line being pulled out causing wind knots. Redesigning that band to be flush will solve the problem permanently.

I remedied the issue by wrapping the upper and lower portions of the spool with a few layers of copy paper I cut to a 1/8" width. This created a more uniform line lay eliminating 95% of the wind knots. I imagine that if that band were flush from the factory the wind knot elimination would be closer to 100%.

Please have your lead engineer read this as the same principle would apply to all braid ready reels in your lineup if the knurled surface is also raised. Afterwards please send me a complimentary Shark3 KRLSPNSH3-S30BK Spinning reel in 3000 series and a Flippin out KRDCSTASG-75FO1 casting rod for improving your otherwise flawless design. Nice, strong and compact reel

I bought a 6000 for fishing bonitos and mahi mahi and works great for fish up to 15 kg. Please make an 8000 version to try it with bigger fish.

Purchased 2 -#6000 reels for catfishing

Purchased 2 -#6000 reels for catfishing. Only have one complaint. Reels work pretty good except that the handle knob is looose as hell. So the one reel is useless to me. Tried E-mailing Kastking ‘s no response yet.I looked at the other reel and handle knob is just starting to loosen. I’m not to happy!!!. Just to let people know that the catfish range from 10-40 lbs. Should be able to handle it. Thank You.

Went catfishing for the first time and I was able to reel in this nice size channel cat effortlessly! Felt like butter baby! If you are balling on a budget, get this reel! You won’t regret it. (Also got the braided line from Kastking too.)
