Sharky Baitfeeder III Spinning Reel

I first ordered a 5000 series baitfeeder reel for channel cats and love it to much I decided to go after 2 new 6000's.

The shipping on these reels and fast and showed up in only a day or two. When I was using them for a big blue cat trip i had planned for a year now I was able to hook into a monster blue cat. This is where things took a turn. The reel stopped allowing the spool to go up and down which put all of the line in one spot on the spool. I was still fighting the fish when the handle completely locked up and the internal gear would not turn. This is the moment that I wasnt able to keep tension on the line and lost a trophy blue catfish on the James River.

That really hurt since it was the only trophy blue cat we hooked into on the trip. I believe it was a manufactures defect in the gears. I was able to complete a smooth and easy return through Amazon but that didn't get my fish back.

I'll continue to use the reels but when it comes to planned trips for trophy fish I think I'll leave the Kastking reels home next time.

My wife, and I went out on a guide trip in the gulf of Mexico for spotted sea trout. I bought a 3000 and 4000 series bait runner last week for life bait fishing. The drag clicker worked well, and the reel is light. we caught 30 sea trout, and silver trout. It worked well with 40 pound test braid. good test run. I will buy more.

Hold lots of braid and gas a loud bait feeder clicker.
Seems to be a smooth reel for the size. Well worth the purchase price.
