I purchased the Spartacus II spinning reel for a trip to Galveston, TX and I couldn't be happier. It's super smooth and has the power to reel in some good sized Redfish and Sheepshead. Casting with this thing is absolutely mind blowing. I'm serious, this reel really launches! I was throwing a 1 oz weight rigged with shrimp off the end of the pier and getting it out the same distance that guys were throwing much larger sinkers on 12' surf rods. I could not have been more impressed.
The build quality of this reel seems to be very solid and on par with a twice as expensive Penn Fierce IV reel. It winds smooth and seems to keep the salt and sand out of the working components/internals of the reel. At the end of the day I just gave it a simple rinse with freshwater and shook it out.
Overall I recommend this reel with zero reservations., especially for the price!
The two piece Spartacus rod and reel is just outstanding
I've had this reel for a couple weeks now and it has performed amazingly. I am an experienced bass fisherman who fishes 3-5 days a week and I have purchased over 8 KastKing reels in the past couple of years. This is my second Spartacus II Spinning reel and it has demonstrated excellent performance for the price. The first one I bought in the 5000 size for catfishing, while the second one was purchased in the 2000 size for bass fishing. This reel has a smooth drag system and smooth bearings throughout the whole assembly. I currently have 20lb braid to a flourocarbon leader, and it is attached to a MH 7' Spinning rod. I use this reel for small swimbaits and small finesse presentations. It has a ton of power with the handle and a good amount of line retrieval speed without losing torque. This is important when fighting big fish on light tackle, which is why I went with the 2000. KastKing, as usual, did not sacrifice weight for performance. This reel is extremely light and easy to use. After hours of twitching the rod to move your bait, heavy reels can be annoying. This reel has made it easier on your hand and wrist to get the job done.
Overall, I have absolutely loved using this reel and would recommend anyone looking for an affordable but quality option to go ahead and buy it.
Very nice and should be easy to handle for a whole day.
I don’t have enough money for one but I will hopefully be able to use it for salt and fresh water
