Spool tension Knob is difficult to adjust
I don't just blindly 5 star stamp all my Kastking reviews. I tell it like it is. Overall I love Kastking products but this one slightly missed the mark. Partially because of the app and a bit on the reel. The reel is spec'd to handle 150 yards of 30lb braid, but after filling the spool with 10lb Kastking 8X braid, the app said I only had 104 yards. You should be able to just pick your line being used if it is a Kastking brand of line. They should already know the stats. The app also failed several times trying to update the firmware. As the iReel and app are fairly new products, I hope there will be updates soon that will address some of these issues.
As for the reel itself, I don't like the fact that the spool cover comes completely off, unlike the Megajaws Elite or the MG12. Lastly, not a big fan of the auto mag adjustment. Numbers are too hard to read on it and its a little difficult to change settings as I have to use my fingernail to change the dial. But I do love the axis eye line guide much better than the LFVTV guide on the MJEs and Kestrel Elite. I am a BIG data geek, so I'm hoping the stats will provide me with good information to improve my fishing abilities.
Minus the computer and electronics, it's still another fine reel from Kastking but I believe you get better bang for you buck with the MJE, Kestrel Elite or MG12, especially if the electronics is not important to you.
Upon received the crank handle was loose. The crank handle is a little small for the reel size in my opinion. I upgrade the handle on mine. kastking really need to be inspected carefully before shipping out.The reel look great and feel good in your. The problem I had is that reel size look more like 300 and can only less then 100 yard of 10lb mono. On the spool stamped as less then 100 yards of 10lb line but the specs said mono 10/165, 12/110, 15/100.
Out of the box the reel feels very smooth, has a sleek design and very comfortable in the hand. Setup was very simple with the app. App provides some decent information.
