I ordered the 7’2” light-3 piece. I paid for expedited delivery. The USPS messed up, and Kastking refunded my purchase order before USPS figured out what happened. Being a guide for professionals(lawyers, doctors, CPA, etc) timely delivery is very important, and I test companies out before recommending them to clients. What’s even more important than delivery time is Customer Service (sorry Kastking for having to approach you initially this way). Professionals know mistakes happen. How a company responds to a mistake, even if it’s not their fault, is absolutely crucial.
The one thing keeping Kastking from dethroning companies like Bass not-so Pro shops is the USPS. If they could work with UPS or FedEx for deliveries, and get their rods into more brick and mortar shops for people to feel and see them before purchase, no other company will stop them from becoming the best there is for fishing gear.
With technology where it is today, almost any company can make a good to excellent rod. The big difference is how much of your retirement/savings they will want for their rod. Most other rod companies, as soon as you step into Nano-tube technology, the price goes above $159.99.
$89.99 for the Kastrel series.
I definitely will be purchasing more from them, including repurchasing the rod I was interested in for myself.
Thank you Winnie for your professionalism.
Excellent three piece spinning rod for traditional Ned rigs (1/32 to 1/8 heads + TRD 2.75” + 4lb to 6lb braid + 4lb to 8lb fluorocarbon leader).
This 6ft 2in. ultralight spinning rod is amazing. It has top-level components that were above the reach of most fishermen until now. What I like about the Kestrel rods and reels are the high-quality components and build standards. KastKing's products span from high-end, to mid-priced, to low-end, so that everybody can afford KastKing products. Even their low-end rods and reels are high-quality and much better than some weird-named brands that are plastered all over the internet. KastKing also stands by their products, which I really appreciate. While the old established companies can rest on their laurels and charge us exorbitant prices, KastKing's prices give the consumer a lot for what they shell out, even on their budget models. While the Kestrel line is by no means a "budget" model, it remains affordable and reasonable with extremely-high performance for a rod at this price point.
I only use lightweight jigs with small Elaztech and was looking for my perfect rod only to find ones out of my price range. I’m very pleased with this 6’1” Kestrel and I’ve got it paired with the Zephyr SFS 1000 reel. A perfect combo.
Casts nice, the reel is smooth. Feels like it’s at a higher price point than it is. Time will tell, only made a crew casts in the pool so far but I’m super happy as of now.
