I love the summer 500 for ultra light Trout Fishing
Dominic B.
Pretty awsome reel I caught some huge bass on it and an almost state record crappie. It held up for about 5 months then it started getting squeaky and wasn't as smooth but I was working it too hard though.

Cant believe these reels are so badget friendly yet hi in quality. Castking summer is now one of my fishing buddy besides my other castking reels. Awesome looks and performance

I love love love this reel!! This is my first kastking product and I am impressed. From the very first cast I was impressed with the smoothness. Then the very first bite I was impressed with the power.

I messed up and got 3 Summer 3000, they are great reels. I meant to order the Centron to have a set, but my bad. Now I'll wait for the money to get a Centron and test it out. The Summers are awesome though.

Love my new Summer 2000 reel, paired with Super Power 15 lb braid-worked flawlessly, quite impressive.

Had opportunity to test my new KASTKING Summer 2000 reel earlier this week and it performed flawlessly-I fished South Shore of Long Island , took in a 34 1/2 striped bass, bluefish, fluke etc . Spooled with KASTKING Super Power 15 lb braided line and couldnt be happier with the performance of both. Have purchased a few different items from KASTKING and always pleased .

I'm getting into lake fishing this year and was getting tired of using a far-too-large rod and reel combo on my row boat. I needed something to pair with my Ugly Stik rod as well, and after reading tons of the reviews along with some YouTube reviews, I figured ~$25 was a cheap gamble. On arrival, it spins nice and freely, and is easy to disassemble for routine maintenance. I paired it with 15lb braided line (should've gotten 10lb braid in retrospect for my lake fishing) and after taking it to the lake the first time, found that it casts beautifully. It has a lever at the bottom to allow it to spin freely either direction, and retrieves with ease without a loud ratcheting buzz. All things tolled, I'm very pleased, particularly at the price point I got it at. It looks great and the blue braid on it looks fantastic. It is easy to cast and retrieve, reasonably light weight, easy to maintain, and attractive. Can't go wrong for $25. If it wears out after a couple of seasons, I'm out very little. Worst-case, it can be a reliable spare if I ever determine something fancier is required.

I liked the look. It turns quietly, gently. In the summer, we look at how the fish will pull.

Cool coil, no backlash, smooth stroke.

I don’t have a picture of my son with the rod and reel, but he did catch this on it!
Thanks so much! Awesome quality!

Ok haven’t had a chance to use it yet. Not as smooth as other KastKing reels but was a lot cheaper got for my grandkids to use. I’ve gotten two Sharkys and Two bait casters gave one to son and older grandson kept one of each for me

I've been fishing for close to 50 years. I've fished for bass, bream, catfish, crappie, redfish, sheeps head, speckled trout, sharks, crevalle jack, African pompano, tarpon, snook and a few others. I have had spinning, baitcast and fly rigs and everything from the cheapest thing that a poor kid could get his hands on to some high end reels. As far as spinning reels, this thing, right out of the box, feels like a really high end reel. It feels so smooth and balanced, the fit and finish is excellent! I've been looking at the Kastking brand for a while now but not really willing to "take a chance" on some Chinese brand. Then I realized that almost all the top brands are made there anyway, and the 500 was only $23 so I ordered it. I also love the direct sales model. I get as many things as I can from companies that sell that way, you aren't paying a middle man and everything I get has better quality and performance per dollar than their competitors.......I think Kastking is the same way. Now, I haven't had the time to spool the reel up yet but I live on a lake so it won't be long before I get some line on it and go for some blue gills off the dock. When I get some time in on the reel I'll check back in and edit this review accordingly. As for now, it looks like this was a great purchase and there will be some baitcasters from Kastking in my very near future!**update** After fishing this reel a half dozen times I have a more complete review. I have caught a number of bluegill and red-ear bream as well as a few small bass. It has been a fantastic reel. It has met the expectations I had, this reel is worth twice what it costs and then some. It fits the need for a ultralight reel for out on our lake as well as being tucked into my pack for mountain stream trout fishing! If you're on the fence about the KastKing brand, I would not hesitate any longer! Just order one, go, do it now.

I've only caught about 8 fish on this so far, but I've only missed 2 bites. I just suck at fishing. The zero lash on the anti-reverse really makes for a snappy response when you feel a hit, and reeling them in is smooth and easy. I got the 2000 for a 4-8lb 6'6" medium light rod, with 6lb mono. I wish I had got the small reel, this is great but it's overkill. It's the size I expected, it's just a lot sturdier construction than I expected, and the drag is much stronger than necessary for this rod. I will probably get the small one and use this reel on a heavier rod for salmon and steelhead. This is a huge upgrade from the reels that come on the combo poles, and really cheap!

I am not a big fan of spinning reels in general, but I know there are certain applications I have to have them for. So, I picked up the Summer, thinking - I'm not spending too much money on it, so I'm okay with that. But, I am pretty impressed with this reel. It feels really solid and the drag is stout. I also like the push button to collapse the handle. Overall it seems like a great reel.

Kastking is the total package. Great value, great functionality, precision, durability and great looking rods and reels.

I give this reel 5 stars because of the price. I really don't think you can get a better reel for $25. My friends have nick named this reel "White Lighting," and we've pulled in all kinds of BIG fish.

Great quality for the price point !!!

The reel operates very smoothly for casting and retrieving, including adjusting the drag (it quickly adjusts with just 2-3 clicks to feel a difference rather than some reels that you can turn forever and never seem to adjust). I wanted something small and lightweight to add to my day pack for hiking/fishing, and this reel along with their 6' collapsible medium rod are excellent for this purpose--it slips into a side pocket and is no taller than my bag. It works as well as my favorite static (not collapsible) rod and reel combo.

Teamed it with a shakespeare micro series 5' ultralight that I picked up at Walmart for 20 bucks (USPS tracking says my Ugly Stik Elite Ultralight pole is still in transit, a week after it was supposed to be delivered)wrapped self-adhering elastic bandage(finger tape) as backing and loaded it with 10lb braid...took it to the neighborhood golf course that has three stocked ponds and had a blast...caught a couple of 3lbers and a bunch of dinks and it performed beautifully...casting and retrieving were as smooth as can be, as was the drag...I ordered both the 500 and the 3000(haven't tried that one yet)and the only thing that bugged me at first was when I changed both handles they wouldn't fully tighten and when I was turning the handle the cover cap would unscrew...thought I was going to have to send both back...but kept working on them and they finally tightened up, but you have to really put some muscle into it...after that tho, they worked great...I just ordered another 500 for when my Ugly Stik shows up, cause I loved the way that micro series rod worked and at almost 1/3 the price...:) When I take out the 3000 I'll give an update...Forgot to mention I own a Sharky III also and so far I have been more than happy with KastKing...highly recommend them

If you are looking for a high quality low price reel that's easy to use then this is the reel for you. not only does it look and feel like high quality but with up to 20lbs of drag it also high performance. If fishing is your passion then this reel is a must have

Officially buying my 2nd one after my son who swears by his. It must be good if I'm willing to try something besides my trusty Penn 4400 that I've been using the last 20 years. Here he is with his 32 inch Snook caught without ant issues. Take care of it and it will last is what I've told my son, and apparently it has lasted. I first laughed when he told me it was a reel that costs less than 30 bucks, figuring it would be broken within the 1st 2 trips on the boat.

Seems like a nice well made reel , can not seem to find a rod to pair it with.

Fully corresponds to the description. Delivery is very fast. Packing is pu film. The coil works smoothly, quietly, without jerks. Seller recommend.

It will be a few months before I can put this to use but I am not disappointed with the buy one bit. A little heavier than expected, but the way it is built it will last. Will be using on an 8' light for white perch and crappie. I may get another rod but 7' next time and will most likely get the 500 again but in blue. I think this will do the job just fine on either.I believe KastKing is striving to put out good products they way they should in keeping the name up at the top. I wish they didn't have to start having product made overseas to stay competitive.I have a Rover 40 conventional that I love and will be buying another as I do more trolling and cat fishing than I will be for crappie and white perch.
