I myself have just found the Kast King brand and at first glance I was not sure About them because it wasn’t one of the usual big dog names I’ve always heard growing up.. so I decided to take a chance and purchase one of their combos to see for myself, which brought me to the Crixus combo spinning reel it’s been a long time since I purchased A combo and I’ve been telling myself I’m due for an upgrade!. I live in California Northern -Bay Area- so I needed to find something that would be suitable for the aqueducts to the deltas.. I found KK 7ft medium heavy 2pc Spinning n I matched with 30 pound braid.. then I found the bait caster combo same specs and thought I had to have aswell!.. Gna get the caster combo all squared away. So I can put em to the test this weekend 8-14/8-16-20.. So I will update this review by 8-17-20...
Love this rod and reel combo! I’ve been fishing for years and this is my second Kast King rod and reel combo and personally my first kind of expensive set up (aka over $100). I took it out for a day and it preformed amazing and it got rained on the night before in the bed of my truck so I expect it to stand up the the elements.
Nice rod! This is my first KastKing, it is lightweight and cast great with 15 lb braid. Seems strong. Time will tell. My only complaint would be that I do not really care for the foam on the handle, but hey that is personal preference. I will update my review after a few weeks of fishing with it.Three weeks later: I still really like this combo. Ive thrown all kinds of baits with it, spinners, frogs, worms, and it has held up great! It breaks down easy enough for me to pack on road trips. Good buy.Five weeks later: Ive upgraded to 5 stars. This rod and reel have tackled everything I have thrown at it. It spent a few days on a canoe with me this past weekend. Caught a few bass and panfish out of the river.Reel got dunked in the water a few times so when i got home i took it apart and re- greased/oiled. Throws like a champ.
My son wanted to get a baitcaster. So for his first one we went with a brand I love and trust. The Kastking Crixus combo was a great buy and we love it
Outstanding value for this combo which arrived just a day after ordering. The reel has a great feel and is very smooth. The rod came packaged well, and the combo was together in a few minutes. Can’t wait to haul some fish in on my next trip!
First time really using a baitcaster. Day 1 I caught 6 largemouth. No keepers. Still learning the trick of casting and not birds nesting but huge success. Love the rod, came in a sturdy tube for no chance of damage during shipping. Really happy with my purchase.
