This is a pretty good tool set from Kast King. The line scissors and pliers are my most used tools while actively fishing and they work really well.

My 1st observation was that only the pliers could be put into the holster but the scissors has to be out and about by itself. The pliers come with a short coiled lanyard with a small aluminum carabiner to clip to the holster so you don't drop the pliers while the holster is attached to your belt.

The pliers have comfortable grips that allow for some good amount of pressure to be applied without much effort. The spring that brings the pliers back to open position has just the right amount of tension to keep the pliers open and ready to use after putting them down. The absence of a closed position latch/lever had me confused. Most tools that have a open assist spring will usually include a locking latch of some sort. I think the idea here is that the belt holster protects the tool or user from the open jaws of the pliers when holstered. I guess they figure it's better to not have something you need to actuate when you're holding a fish or rod with one hand, and pliers in the other. It doesn't bother me, just an observation. What I really like about these pliers is the split ring tooth on the tip of the jaws. The size is perfect for most crankbait split rings used for largemouth bass fishing. From jerkbaits to deep diving crankbaits, it's important that the tooth is small enough to open lighter tackle split rings, but big enough to split a size 5 ring on a 10XD deep diver. I've used many different brands of split ring pliers and have had to use 2 different ones in the past. I can use these for 90% of my split ring tackle now. The rear-most part of the jaws have a crimp feature to crimp split shit weights or sleeves to make leaders.

One thing missing from the description is the 3 slots along the edge of one of the plier jaws. There are 3 different widths to accommodate different thickness wire sizes for lure tuning. Not everyone knows this, but most fishing pliers comes with these slots to tune crankbaits. The tuning slots on this plier is perfect for most small to medium size crankbaits that might need a bit of tuning. For example, If your crankbait is drifting to your right on retrieve, simply put the lure nose loop (not the split ring) in the slot of the pliers and gently bend the loop the opposite direction of the lure drifting direction. Remember, make small adjustments until your lure tracks straight. Less is more in this situation, unless the loop is visibly bent from some really bad cast against a brick wall . Best feature ever!

The superline scissors are SHARP! They cut through any fishing line you can throw at it. I mainly use largemouth bass tackle so I use anything from 6lb fluorocarbon to 60lb braid and it cuts clean and effortlessly each time. The scissors also have 2 slots on the back edge for lure tuning as well, but I find the plier slots are more snug. The handles of the scissors are unique. I'm sure they are designed for comfort to accommodate all hand sizes. The handle loops are not rigid all around as they are made of a soft bendable plastic. They are flexible enough to conform to even the most awkward grip you might have on it.

They really hit a home run on this set. Buy it, you won't be disappointed!
