Just tried my new Kast King mat for Coho. Brand new, it presented a challenge. The long edges, abd particularly the bottom edge, rolled upwards and prevented me from getting clean fillets. Very frustrating!
I am no filet-master, and am trying to improve my skills, yet I left good meat behind as I could not run my filet knife parallel to the fish’s spine. It actually dug into the nubs on the mat due to the forced angle.
I’m hoping it settles down..
Otherwise, it held the fish well, should last a while.
Cleaning was not just a “hose off”. Had to scrub with a brush to remove some scales.
High quality materials and easy to clean/store! I like that everything rolls up inside the mat when I'm done.
