Quick delivery! This is my 5th KastKing reel. They are an affordable high quality brand. If you havent tried them out, what are you waiting for?The Kapstan 2500 has a great gear ratio and is waterproof. I plan to use this with a saltwater setup. The spool is ready for braided line as well. You have the ability to switch the handle over to retrieve on either side (right or left handed). It has a t-handle which makes reeling it in easier. The drag on this is impressive as well. You should be able to fight some big ones. Its a clean reel with a great design and color. Looking forward to breaking this on in!
Let me start with Great customer service! Guys this company is standing for many years and providing good customer support. It is my 4 reel. I have casting, trolling, large surfe spinning and now new 2500 size reel. Color are matching my KastKing Rod and I choose black braid 250 feet. Not sure about first models of KastKing but I have no regrets buying additional items from them. I went to fishing show - I can confirm that KastKing ReKon is in range with Penn, Daiwa and Shimano by quality. However you get same quality for more affordable prices. I ready for fishing season. With Sufr and Lake setups. Thank you KastKing for making good and affordable products.
Just received this reel for an upcoming trip to cabo to do some surf fishing. I have other kastking products like knives, fishing rods, and tackle gear and have been very happy with those. This reel quality feels on par with some of the other brands. Looking forward to catching some dorado and rooster fish from the shores of cabo san lucas.Update: Just got back from cabo where i spent 4 days fishing with this reel. The surf fishing was tough because the swell was really big and the waves were huge so the fish were not in close enough. The reel performed flawlessly. we went out on a boat one day, and caught 10 sierra with this reel. the guide let me use my own gear and were impressed at the performance. they kept asking where i got it, how much etc. They really liked the setup and even asked to fish with the rod/reel to catch some on their own to try it out.
Ive been through a lot of reels, but this one is hands down the best Ive used in saltwater. Most reels start giving out after a while, but this one just keeps going, no matter how long Im out there. The bail action is super smooth but still has that solid, firm feel, which I love. If youre looking for a reel that actually holds upwhether youre just getting into fishing or have been at it for yearsId definitely recommend this one.
I took my friends fishing after buying these 3000 series reels and they locked them. Got on big Gags, Amberjack and some nice Hogs.
Picked the 6000-size model to pair with a Penn Squadron III 10' rod for Gulf surf fishing. I already owned a couple of KastKing's ReKon reels on other rods as well as a fair bit of their freshwater gear, so I didn't have too much in the way of reservations going in. Unboxing and setup were straightforward enough and the reel makes a great impression - super smooth mechanically and well-finished throughout.It's been on that rod for numerous trips spooled with 30# braid and has delivered every time. The drag is strong enough that the line will give well before it slips at full lock and adjustment is very gradual, with about five full turns from full lock to where you'd typically set it for set rig surf fishing. If you just want to horse in big guys like reds and shark, this is a great reel.Sealing against saltwater and sand intrusion seems as good as advertised - after a half-dozen trips, I popped it open to do inspection and maintenance and there were absolutely zero signs of corrosion or even entry of water. I'll update if this changes down the road, but I'm definitely happy with KastKing's efforts at keeping the elements out.It's a bit of a heavy reel for its size, but that really doesn't matter for set rig surf fishing. In exchange, you get great durability and waterproofing and smooth effective operation from all of the reel's components. Beyond that this reel offers amazing value for money, being easy on maintenance and delivering on the areas that matter to surf fishing enthusiasts.
