Great rod and reel. It cast super smooth. I run 6lb mono and haven't backlashed one time. You do have to set the weight when changing lures but that doesn't take no time. I've caught everything from tiny bluegill to some pretty big bass! It has held up wonderfully. I even use it for heavier stuff like topwater frogs on straight 6lb mono and haven't had any issues at all bringing in the big ones! Lol...If your second guessing on buying it, do yourself a favor and just get it. You won't regret it. I'm pretty hard on rod and reels and this thing is tough!
I had my reservations about the quality of the reels and rods offered by Kast King but heard good things so I decided to roll the dice. I was not disappointed! Reel casts light BFS lures a long distance with easy and I have had 0 backlash issues. The rod is light and sensitive. I am very happy with my Kestrel BFS rod and reel!
I bought this rod to pair with the kaatking kestrel reel for bfs fishing and i couldn't be happier. Great action and strength. I've already caught several pan fish and large mouth with it. I highly recommend it for an ultralight pole. The quality and finish is something you'd expect from a rod 2-3 times as expensive so great value for you money. When paired with kastkings kestrel reel it's a perfect fit and pro level of performance.
Value for the money is right in the wheel house! Rod has great backbone for a multi piece rod. I know it sounds like a selling point when it is told from the company that they have the tech of it feeling like a one piece. Simply saying it is true! So good I have two in the arsenal and one in the cart! Just waiting for the reel to come in the mail! If you are new to bfs, adding a rod to the collection, or not trying to ruin your wallet.
