The Kestrel Elite BFS (Bait Finesse System) baitcasting reel is the lightest on the market weighing only 4.4 ounces! This reel allows anglers to effortlessly cast lightweight baits farther with greater accuracy while nearly eliminating backlashes. Plus, the minimal weight and comfortable, compact size make the Kestrel Elite a breeze to fish with all day long!

Advanced Braking Technology

The FAF (Flyout Arc Finesse) Braking system was designed specifically for finesse fishing. Two half-ring magnetic brakes automatically adjust to slow down the spool when braking is needed to prevent backlashes. As the speed of the spool decreases, the magnetic field inside the spool diminishes and the magnets retract to maximize casting distance. There is also an external fingertip brake adjustment dial for fine tuning spool speeds for smaller baits.

Innovative Spool

The ultra-lightweight BFS shallow feather spool weighs only 5.6 grams! The smaller spool excels at handling the smaller diameter lines best suited for finesse fishing. The shallow spool requires less effort to turn and get up to speed, therefore enabling anglers to effectively cast lures down to 1/32 oz.

Strength Without The Weight

The compact Palm Perfect design (36.5mm height) and magnesium frame reduces the total reel weight to only 4.4 oz. Although the reel is as light as a feather, it doesn't skimp on power. The main gear and shaft are constructed of hard anodized aluminum and linked to a 100% brass pinion gear. A carbon handle and side plates also keep the weight low while maintaining strength.

Advanced Line Guide

The patented LFTV (Low Friction Tapered Vortex) Line Guide decreases the angle at which the line enters the guide, limiting friction during casts. Straighter line and reduced friction results in fewer backlashes and greater distance on casts, both of which are qualities highly desirable among serious finesse anglers.

So good I sent my Aldebaran back.

I hooked into a big bass in a small pond with my Aldebaran and the drag just didn’t allow me to haul it in. Even cranking while pulling it would strip line and get some slack which, sure enough, it used to toss the lure. I barely landed a non-brush encumbered bass that was 2.25lbs on the other side of the lake.

The Kestrel Elite was a whole other store. I managed to haul in that same bass that I couldn’t get before with the Aldebaran. He weighed 3.05 lbs and probably had a pound of brush come along with him. Went around the pond and pulled a 2.65 lbs bass out of some more brush and up over some sharp foliage at the edge.

There was simply no comparison. Before making a final decision I went back today and got hit hard with the same big bass and once again watched with the drag on the Aldebaran locked down as I futilely reeled and watched it pop the bait and swim off.

Back goes the Aldebaran and another Kestrel Elite will be on its way shortly.

What A Dream!

Talk about a well balanced rod and reel. The three piece casting rod with this reel is so perfectly balanced and weighs in at 8.675oz. Spooled with Kastking 8X braid and it casts a country mile with the lightest of lures. My only (very minor) complaint is the spool cover comes completely off, unlike the MG12 or Megajaws Elite. Can't wait to land some big crappie with this combo!!!

Only BFS reel I’ve ever bought/used but I don’t know why I would buy any other. Amazed at the feel of this reel and how light it is. I recently took a fishing trip down to south Florida and REALLY put this to the test. Kast King would either be so proud, or frown upon me, but I went snakehead fishing with it. Unbelievably I was able to land this 6 lb snakehead on the Kestrel Elite with Kast Kings incredible 8 lb 13x finesse braid. Also just caught a 3.31 bass on a weightless fluke with it. BRAVO Kast king!!! Love what you guys are doing! Keep up the great work and I promise to give my Kastrel Elite a break from the River monsters.

Really enjoy fishing with this reel, I have been fishing BFS for years now and this has become my favorite reel. I will probably be buying a second one soon

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this reel. Right out of the box it just feels like a high quality part. Extremely light weight but also very stout feeling. Operation is smooth as can be and the handles feel great.

Very excited to get this reel to use for bait finesse fishing for Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass. It is extremely lightweight as KastKing describes, I have not held a lighter reel in my hands.
