Just buy it!!!!!!! Got a creek bass on it and the sensitivity was outstanding. Also the action of the bait is flawless.
The Kestrel BFS 6'9" 3 piece rod is light weight and has good sensitivity. Rod is light enough to cast tiny lures, tip is fast for jerkbaits and top water yet has enough backbone to set size 1 EWG hooks and fight 3 lb bass no problem. I have notice a little reel seat flex when fighting bigger fish. I originally ordered the 1 piece rod but it was out of stock after I placed my order which I was a little disappointed in but the 3 piece rod has done well so far. I would have give it 5 stars if I got the 1 piece rod I ordered and if therebwas not any reel seat flex. Over all a very decent BFS rod.
I'm liking it very much. Allows me to cast almost all of the line off the kestrel BFS reel. Caught three catfish in the 4 lb range yesterday with no problem.
Good pole, will boat flip 5.5 lbs large mouth atleast! Wish it had a single piece option. I cast and the tip flew off as i usually keep my poles in my truck bed, think the summer heat expanded the links and it did its thing! Also to its credit I've put in some work with it in a months time, probably got about 50 large mouth bass, couple blue gills too. It was replaced free of charge, great customer service!
The Casting / 6'3" / Fast-Ultra Light-2pcs rod is excellent for its price point. It has enough backbone to handle some medium sized pickerel and largemouth.. Sensitivity is on point and carries 8lb braid/6lb fluoro flawlessly. I paired it with the KastKing Kestrel Elite Magnesium Frame BFS Finesse Baitcasting Reel. So far the reel is disappointing. Pros are its lightweight, compact, has a drag clicker and outperformed a spinning reel. Cons are that it's over braked and high cost. Even withe the brake settings at their lowest, I cant cast a 1/4 oz over 60 ft. If I knew what I know now, I would have gone with the Shimano or Daiwa BFS.
Talk about a well balanced rod. The three piece casting rod with a Kestrel Elite reel is so perfectly balanced and weighs in at 8.675oz. Spooled with Kastking 8X braid and it casts a country mile with the lightest of lures. Can't wait to land some big crappie with this combo!!!
