Went catfishing for the first time and I was able to reel in this nice size channel cat effortlessly! Felt like butter baby! If you are balling on a budget, get this reel! You won’t regret it. (Also got the braided line from Kastking too.)

Have two 5000's and one 6000. Caught my first paddlefish with 6000. Use 5000 for catfish. Smoothest reels and well built.
I purchased the Megatron 2000 specifically for jigging 1/4 oz lead head swim baits on light line (15 lb braid & 10 lb Fluorocarbon leaders) in the SoCal surf. The slow retrieve rate (21 in per turn) is ideal for this because it slows down my retrieve in the churned up surf where the visibility for predator fish (halibut) is limited — it gives me more time for a halibut to see my lure. The reel works great for this as evidenced by the 24 in Halibut and 20 in Corbina landed during my first outing with the reel. The reel performed well; smooth with an easy bail release and an excellent drag that provides a wide range of settings from very light to very firm. I’d highly recommend this reel being used with a medium action, fast tipped 8 to 9 ft rod for fishing the edges of rocks, sandy areas, and surf lines at the beach.
