I've been having it for a few weeks now, the reel smooth as expected the rod is great the handle is extra long, it's a great addition to my saltwater arsenal
I've been really impressed with this rod and reel combo. First off the packing and delivery of both the reel and rod were fantastic. I was worried that the rod or rod guides would get damaged in transit to Hawaii. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was packed in a very rigid box and safely secured in foam. The rod was delivered in perfect condition. My first impression of the rod was the weight. It's very light and has a nice stiffness for long casts offshore.
I am also really impressed with the build quality of the reel. I've always been a big Penn and Shimano fan and I'm really appreciating the added value and quality that I've seen from the 4 reels that I've purchased from KastKing. The ReKon reel has the feel of a Shimano Spheros IMO. It's buttery smooth and has a powerful 30 lb carbon fiber drag system to land hard fighting fish. During my research I was attracted to see that this reel was deisgned to handle harsh saltwater conditions with rubber seals that you don't seen in most reels in this price point. With proper care I look forward to using this rod and reel combo for years to come.
I purchased the kastking rekon combo with the 4000 size reel and the 76 Medium Heavy rod for an upcoming trip to gulf shores. The rod arrived better packaged than any rod Ive purchased on Amazon before and came in great condition because of the care kastking puts in packaging. Initial thoughts are this will be great for shire and pier use for me. I like the sensitivity of the rod and especially the locking mechanism for the reel seat. The reel is very smooth as well and what I would expect from kastking like my sharks and megatron reels. The line capacity is good, but kastking reels if using mono seem to be slightly smaller across the board capacity wise vs a penn reel sis if looking for 3000 size Id order a 4000 in a kastking. The drag is very smooth as strong as expected. I spoiled up with 15 pound kastking mono and am ready to catch some redfish and other saltwater species on my upcoming trip. I am really impressed with the quality of kastkings saltwater reels at this point and do not see a need to pay a premium for a lesser quality product with some of the other name brands.
The courier was very helpful and delivered a big box to my door. After opening it, there was a transparent plastic bag inside, which contained a long and thin cardboard box and a small box. The fishing rod was in the long and thin cardboard box, and it was wrapped with foam in the front and back to protect the fishing rod well. The fishing rod is composed of two sections, each section is 3 and a half feet, which is very convenient to put in the trunk of the car, and it is 7 feet long when put together. The workmanship is fine and very smooth, the grip is very comfortable and has a good feel, it is extremely flexible and elastic, the spinning wheel is gray and black, the handle is easily installed and locked, it rotates very smoothly and silky, there is no sense of frustration, and the bearings are super quiet. I am also an angler with more than ten years of fishing experience. I personally feel that this Kastking brand has a good price-performance ratio. I am looking forward to the weather getting warmer so that I can set out to the Atlantic Beach to try this new fishing rod and fishing reel. I should get good results!
I've been a fan of Kastking for a while. I have several rods and reels, as well as nets and other accessories. None have let me down. This combo is great! We chase freshwater stripers and this setup is perfect. Lightweight enough to cast all day, but enough backbone to haul them in. Great for slinging swimsuits or slabs. Haven't had the opportunity to push it with a beast on the line yet, but I'm confident that it will handle it as well as the smaller guys. Really like the double lock on the reel seat-some of my other rods work loose with just the single.
The KastKing ReKon saltwater fishing rod and reel combo comes various size combinations, I got the 7' 6" medium-heavy rod with a 4000 series reel. The two piece rod is built on a graphite blank with zirconia ring guides and double nut rod seat. The reel has a smooth drag and good line capacity.
I loaded mine with 12 lb mono and using it for larger inshore fishing (snook, tarpon and redfish), reef bottom fishing for snapper and grouper and offshore for casting to dolphin/mahi. Its a nice combo, the rod has good backbone and the 4000 series reel is well matched to the rod.
