Skeet Reese, a Bassmaster Classic Champion and former Bassmaster Angler of the Year, is a fishing legend who loves KastKing reels. So much so that he wanted to work with the brand to develop his new reels - the Skeet Reese Signature Icon Fishing Reel. When a legend endorses a reel - anglers need to pay attention because the top pros prefer the best gear.
The robust aluminum frame of Skeet Reese Icon Baitcasting Reel paired with highly durable carbon fiber side plates provide considerable strength while limiting the overall weight to only 7oz.!
Skeet Reese Icon Baitcasting Reel's Automag Dual Braking System utilizes a one-piece magnet ring & centrifugal adaptability to improve casting distance and reduce overruns. The 7.2:1 gear ratio is ideal for topwater baits, jerkbaits, jigs, and other techniques that create slack in your line. The higher gear-ratio comes in handy for solid hooksets on long casts, further reducing missed bites.
Triple Disc Carbon Fiber Drag Washers provide up to 17.6 lbs. of maximum drag to stop fighting fish. And the double bearing supported pinion gear is 35% smoother under load and 30% more durable.
The TPE handle knobs are incredibly comfortable and provide anglers with a better grip and complete control. The KastKing patented LFTV (Low Friction Tapered Vortex) line guide limits the amount of friction on the line allowing for greater casting distance.

I purchased a few of these baitcasters because Alton Jones Jr uses them on the Bass Pro Tour. I am a big fan of his, and he said that he'd really loved using the icon baitcaster on tour this year. I am a huge Shimano and Daiwa fan....I currently have several Tatula 100s, Tatula SV 100s, SLX DCs, SLX XTs, Curados, Ark Gravity BFS & Ark Gravity G5, as well as SLX BFS ..... this reel can easily perform with these mentioned reels. --- I don't think it punches as high as a Metanium or Bantam or Steez, but this reel feels, performs, and looks more like a $150-$199 reel than a $99 reel. --- Its sturdy, doesn't feel cheap at all, and casts very smoothly with easy to manage casting breaks for low backlashes. -- If you have any hesitations, find it around the internet on sale and pull the trigger. -- I bought one, and then bought two more when Black Friday sales came around! --- I think this reel would suite all techniques, but I think especially for moving baits like chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, traps, and crankbaits these reels would feel and perform just as good as what you're currently using. I haven't done any super heavy (1oz-2oz) flipping with it yet, but I wouldn't hesitate to use it for that.
One of the best baitcasters I have ever used. Highly recommend. I'll be buying another one.
If you’re new to bait casting or a seasoned vet. This thing provides. I legit never get backlash or bird nesting. I’ve caught some monster with this guy. If you’re on the fence about trying it out don’t be. Get it and get use to it. You'll be thankful in the long run.
I own and have used multiple KastKing reels, but never one of their more premium offerings. With the majority of their "budget" reels you get what you pay for- great reels but with a shorter life span. That's not the case with this one. It has a lightweight aluminum alloy frame and carbon side plates that makes it the lightest, but strongest reel that I own. This reel is so smooth too and will cast a country mile!! I would honstly say that it offers the same, if not better, performance than the highly coveted Shimano DC that so many fishermen gravitate towards. And the $99 price is an absolute bargain for the reel that you are getting.
