Bought this reel a couple of years ago and paired it with a Falcon cranking rod. Loved the reel for about two months until I caught a 6 lb blue cat while fishing a lipless crankbait. The reel was never the same after that.
Loved it till I flipped out of my boat and it drowned in the lake I got to use it a few times and then. at the bottom of a lake. had it paired with a crixus rod great rod to. loved my set up and I will have it again one day if you buy it you'll love it .period.i will continue to buy kastking only rod and reels ill buy
great very smooth settings. Very easy to get on right setting.
I recently purchased a Kastking Casting Reel called the Valiant Eagle. I was interesting in trying the 8.1:1 Retrieve speed, which is about 32 IPT. I have used it on two fishing trips now & WoW, I love this reel. Not only can I throw this reel further than my other baitcasters but It is so smooth retrieving & the 8.1:1 is working out perfectly for my crankbaits, spinnerbaits & especially my top-water Whopper Flopper. I don't have to crank like crazy, just a nice smooth fluid return moves this plopper as perfectly as any reel I have used. Has a great drag system as well. For anyone wanting to use Flourocarbon line, I underlaid this reel with braid and top loaded about 40 yards of the best Flourocarbon & it works beautifully. By the way, this is a cabon fiber, lightweight reel, just perfectly palms. I use a left handed model myself. I am so impressed, I believe I am going to buy its slower counter part for my plastic worm fishing. Can't go wrong with this reel & you'll probably love saving the money by not overpaying for a higher price reel.
Just pulled it out of the box feels amazing. I’m sure like the other kast king reels I have it will work amazing too.Update: tried it out in the yard long story short using a 3/4oz jig and without much spool tension (lure drops faster than you would normally set it) set mag brake on as little as 7 and you don’t have any backlashes. And I’m making 65 yard casts with that set up.Update 2: after fishing this reel for a while idk. The swing wing cover isn’t tight against the body anymore. Haven’t noticed that be any kind of issue at all but other than that the thing really does still cast like a dream and after catching 35ish bass average around 3lbs and a few 5-7lbs it’s functionality really good. Somewhere along the line though I feel like somethings going to happen with that swing wing.
