Kestrel Elite baitcasting reels use an extensive unique array of magnesium alloy and carbon fiber materials, which are extremely lightweight, yet strong and durable. Only weighing 124 grams / 4.4 ounces makes the world’s lightest fishing reel to date. An ultralight reel allows greater agility and reduces arm fatigue without sacrificing key performance.
The image of a small but fierce raptor, the kestrel, swooping down on its targeted prey, is incorporated into the fishing reel design. The exterior of Kestrel Elite baitcasting reel has a streamlined modeling design marked by pronounced sharp edges and crisp intersecting lines. It achieves an extremely sleek lower profile of only 36.5 mm based on the KastKing Palm Perfect Compact Design. It ensures a comfortable grip; perfect for palm fishing techniques.
In the pursuit of new concepts design results are always a possibility. The epoch-making, patented brake technology is applied into Kestrel Elite BFS reel. A BFS reel needs brakes that can handle the fast start-up speed of the spool coupled with the low momentum of super light lures flying out. Therefore, Kestrel Elite BFS reel is equipped with a new FAF “Flyout Arc Finesse Braking System” specifically designed for bait finesse applications.
Kestrel Elite BFS reels are also equipped with a 28mm diameter bait finesse shallow spool, called “Feather Spool”. KastKing moved the brake system from the spool to the side cover and updated the spool with an aluminum split main shaft for weight reduction. This ultra-lightweight BFS spool weighs only 5.6 grams (including bearing and main shaft) so that it minimizes the inertia of the spool at the beginning of rotation and anglers can cast more easily when using any light lures getting down to 1g total weight.
Kestrel Elite is the world’s lightest, as well as the most advanced, Bait Finesse System (BFS) fishing reel, in the entire fishing industry. It addresses every angler’s concern, ensures to provide a sense of comfort and convenience and brings them a world-class fishing experience.
Bait Finesse System moves the braking unit from the spool to the palm side cover, effectively reducing the spool’s weight. Traditional magnetic brake systems can only achieve a relatively constant braking force throughout the cast and maintain the same drag power on the spool.
KastKing’s new, advanced Flyout Arc Finesse Braking System capitalizes on two half-ring magnetic brakes on the side cover. They automatically adjust to slow down the spool only when braking is needed. When the spool rotates fast in the initial stage of casting, it sets up a magnetic field inside the spool. The two half-ring magnets are then attracted and move outward, thereby providing more braking force and effectively preventing the spool from backlashing due to excessive spool speed. As the speed of the spool decrease the magnetic field inside the spool diminishes. This causes the two half-ring magnets to move inward and back to their starting position, therefore reducing the braking force and achieving increased casting distance.
It also offers fingertip brake adjustment. Anglers can fine tune their brakes with the external dial, which slides the brake unit on the side cover farther in or out of the spool.
