“Welcome back to Hooked Up With Hunter here on the KastKing Channel and we are going to be doing the top three lures that I am choosing for your pre-spawn fishing, whether you're up north whether you're down south, whether you're out west, whether you're on the east coast, it don't matter where you are. These lures can help you get closer to the patterns that you need to be doing for the pre-spawn bite.

1.Imitation Crawfish Baits For Different Species

“I'm here at Public Lake today. I'm going to be doing a little bit of fishing. As I'm going to be walking around hopefully catching fish, I will be talking about tips you could use to catch more fish in these baits. But, I'm going to go ahead and actually talk about the baits right here. Bait number one for me is probably going to be the jig. This jig right here has been probably my key bait last year when I was doing it a lot during the pre-spawn is when I was fishing. This is actually a Kaitek jig specifically and I am using a little craw trailer on it. This time of year craw is a main forage for a lot of fish, a lot of bass, a lot of different species that will be out there in the water. But, mainly I'm imitating craws possibly essentially stirring up dirt near where bass may be getting ready to bed. If there's early spawners they're going to bite your lure because you may not even know you're on a bed sometimes.

2.Jerkbaits As a Searchbait for Pre-spawn Bass Fishing

“Lure number two that I probably will be using is going to be a jerkbait.  A jerkbait is a great search bait especially for that pre-spawn or even if you're in the winter still if you need a good suggestion I would probably suggest the jerk bait. The jerkbait is probably going to be a great little search bait, but it's going to be a great search bait for whenever you're trying to find those finicky fish that are hard to get to bite.  It's a great reaction bite for that pre-spawn time, especially or even during, the winter. Like say if it's still winter for you.  For me it's January. That's usually about either between winter or possibly our pre-spawn period because here in Florida we probably have anywhere from one to two to even three waves of spawn.

3.Shaky Head For Pre-spawn Fishing

“Let me put this up and get bait number three. Bait number three that I’m probably going to say is going to be a great pre-spawn bait is going to be this shaky head right here. Specifically the shaky head I’m using, I don't know what the name of the shaky head is, but I do know what the worm is. It's from a little brand called X-zone. All these different brands and stuff won't matter. A lot of these lures, no matter what brand or what worm you're using, it won't matter too much. But, this right here is a shaky head. What it's supposed to do is look like essentially a worm facing down on the ground. Sometimes what bass will do a lot is they'll try to feed up before the pre-spawn so that they can focus on spawning and guarding their bed. They're going to need a lot of energy to make sure that no fish are getting all gained up on their beds or anything like that.

“Definitely whenever you can imitate the things that the bass will be eating almost all the time, which is craws, bait fish and worms.  I will say the main forage imitations are going to be those three things. Pre-Spawn Fishing Tackle – What To Use With The Three Best Pre-Spawn Bass Fishing Baits For Late Winter and Early Spring

“The setup I’m actually using with my shaky head right here, is actually going to be a BFS (Bait Finesse System) reel. If you guys want to check out the Zephyr BFS it's on KastKing’s website.  I’m actually using a BFS reel with a medium light rod, which there's actually a bunch of medium light rod offers actually from KastKing. If you guys want to go check out the Perigee II rod and pair that up with a Zephyr BFS, in my opinion that's a great bass finesse combo. The rod I’ll be using for my jerk bait today is going to be a KastKing Speed Demon Elite crankbait rod.  I specifically like the crankbait rod just because I like it to have a moderate bend whnever I’m using a jerkbait because oftentimes you can easily get a fish to pop out of it,  pop off, if you're using treble hooks.  Because all treble hooks are moving separate ways from each other. It's all colliding forces.  I’m using actually braid with my drop bait as well the reason why is because it's a little bit more snappy whenever I’m trying to work my jerkbait while in a certain way. I’m using 30 pound braid with a 12 pound leader to a jerkbait on a seven foot medium moderate action rod. For my jig setup I’m actually using a 7’ 3” heavy rod. Another rod that I could recommend is also the KastKing Speed Demon Elite jig rod. If you guys already know this, some of the higher end rods offered through KastKing actually have technique specific identifications on the rod. If you don't already have a preference for how you like to fish a certain technique. If you're looking for a rod that can do jigging worm they have a 7’3” medium heavy, 7’#” heavy rod, that could actually really do what you need for as far as that goes. It is probably easily the best rod that KastKing makes. Blanks are awesome, super sensitive, super great rods.
