Kestrel Bait Finesse System Finesse Baitcasting Reel

Bought two and they are great so far. Casting little bitty lures is great, very smooth drag, definitely feels like a much more expensive reel. Looking forward to trying out the Elite version.

It's ridiculously light. With the whole combo it feels like I'm holding air in my hands. The quality is top notch even with how light it is. I've taken it out fishing 4 times now and each time it's only gotten better. The only issue I've had (but have been correcting) is that I've had a few backlashes that have made my line snap. I switched to a heavier line and the issue happened once since then. The more I dial it in and the more I've used it, I've learned to be easier with it and still get the long casts that I want with it. It has not disappointed and I will continue to be a Kastking supporter.

I liked the first reel so much that I bought two more of the same kind and rigged with slightly different line weights and rods. These three combos are most productive this summer and able to land good size fish.

The reel will absolutely cast down to 1/16oz very well! For 1/16oz I run the brakes on 0, so could have a problem with distance if you go lighter. I wish I would’ve bought the 7.5/1 instead of the 8.5/1, but it was sold out when I bought. Very smooth high quality reel and addicting!
